Nickolai Finally accepts Harley!

Harley was 2 weeks old in these pictures, Nickolai had a really hard time in the begining. He didnt understand that this crying thing sometimes had to come first, he would get really upset and go into his room when she would start to cry.

When miley was a baby Nickolai would get really upset when she would cry. It took him about a year to understand that not all baby crys were bad... Now he knows when Miley is upset and comes to her rescue like a "knight in shining armor!" it is really sweet

I hope that Nickolai and Harley develop a bond like he and Miley have, they have such an amazing understanding of each other! With a huge dose of sibling rivalry on top!!!

This has to be one of my most charished moments. I was snuggling with Harley on the couch, Normally at this point Nickolai had been giving me a grumpy look and would head into his room.... but this time he was walking past and stopped, looked at me, patted his chest then came and sat down next to me.

It made me a little nervous at first because i just assumed that he would want to shove Harley away from me But he didnt, he kept patting the top of her head really softly, then he would fix the blanket so it was right up by her face..after a few minutes he started getting closer and closer to her, then he hugged her! he couldnt decide the best way to do it, so he kept adjusting his arm till he felt it was just right! It made my heart melt! <3

Cody and I have decided this was Nickolais way af deciding that Harley is okay, he seems to have accepted her and loves on her often now!

He is such a good big brother!

New Addition to the family!

Nickolai thought he has his hands full with his 2 year old sister Miley, Well on Feburary 15th 2011 Harley Kaye was born 7 lbs 2 oz 21 inches long. We are so excited to see how Nickolai does with her.

Harley was 4 days old when we took them for their photo shoot, we are planning this fall to do family pictures. I think Nickolai will do best outside where we dont have to worry about backgrounds, chairs, props and other things that Nickolai might enjoy breaking : )

When we first brought Harley home from the hospital Nickolai had a really hard time, he didnt want to share his mom, and for all those who know Nickolai he has a serious issue with blankets and anything near your mouth. It took a few weeks before he accepted that it was okay for his new sister to be swaddled in a blanket and for the binki to be in her mouth! He is still adjusting and not quite sure about it!

Miley is loving being a big sister, she has been really helpful and loves to show Harley off to all the visitors!

I love this video! Nickolai look like he is being rough... but they have developed there own way of wrestling and playing. The best part is that they are so protective of each other. When Miley starts crying Nickolai will run to the rescue he will pat her better or just come and sit by her! When Nickolai gets upset, Miley will run to his aid and make everyone get away from him and yell at whoever is near him... Its really sweet!

When Nickolai first moved in, one of our biggest fears was him hurting Miley. He has a way of being too rough he thought playing was hitting and kicking and other various rough actions that would hurt who ever would be near him... in the past whenever you would get in Nickolais "bubble" he would smack or kick impulsively.

There was only one time Nickolai pushed his boundaries... He was in his Tumble form chair (a soft foam chair that is shaped like a banana chair) Miley was crawling in front of him and he put his foot under her stomach and flipped her 3 feet across the room. The only way we could think to get our point across to him that he could not hurt her to make her go away was to make him love her better! So Cody held his hands and I held Miley on his lap and slowly calmed her down, until he was ready to say sorry to her... Well it only took that one time! I think he has always remembered that if he hurts her he has to love her better. Although he loves her and will sometimes let her hug him he would much rather wrestle and play with her than have her sitting on him and hugging her. So I hate to say it but they have developed a very typical sibling rivalry!!! And they wouldnt have it any other way!!!

The Start...

Well I am going to try to start this blog for Nickolai, I feel that there are alot of people that want to know whats going on and keep up with his daily life and just check up on him! I am going to learn as I go and hopefull will get the hang of it!!! I am open to suggestions : )
